Markus comes from a wealthy family; his adoptive father, Carl, has schooled him in fine art. He lives in a lavish home by his lonesome, original paintings and portraits worth plenty of money lining the walls of his studio. He wants for nothing, yet still, he is a kind and humble man.
Simon, a poor student who had to drop out of school to look after his brother, was struggling to keep a roof over his family’s head when he read an article about Markus hosting a viewing of his gallery in the paper. He has no interest in the event at all, but what the other’s artwork could fetch him money-wise.
He breaks into Markus’ home and tries to steal a painting; inevitably, he is caught by the owner himself. He doesn’t turn Simon in, though, he’s more interested in his reasons.
This begins a trying friendship between them; Markus is open, caring – and Simon is distrusting and scared. But he does his best to make it up to Markus and becomes an apprentice of some sort. It earns him money and keep, and he gets to keep his family going.
Of course, this also leads to Simon falling hopelessly in love with Markus, who is engaged to a smart business woman called North – and winds a tale of jealousy, and eventually, their happiness.
I decided to make that Connor print into an acrylic charm! And then I figured since I make them myself, why not make a whole set? So I painted that Simon and Markus sketch I did for my friend. I really like how it turned out 🙂 maybe I’ll add a 900reed one too if I can think of a good idea for it.
