Word Count: 3.2k+ (oops)
A/N: Did someone say my cryptic boi Elijah? I got way too excited with this one which explains the word count. Also, typo warning because I’m too lazy to read through it thoroughly right now.

#5: “Don’t you love me?”
Hundreds of cars drove through the busy streets of Detroit, Michigan as the sounds of road rage rose into the air. Everyone was hastily trying to get home from a long day of work before the sun started to go down once more. Stars were making their daily debut across the sky, twinkling with pride as you stood on your apartment balcony, staring down at the city lights below. Your hair was still wet from a recent shower, dripping down the robe that was lazily wrapped around your body with a glass of red wine in your hand. You didn’t get time to yourself often but when you did, you cherished it. Closing your eyes, you took a deep breath, taking in your surroundings.
“(Y/N), your television program is about to begin.” A voice said from behind you, taking you out of your little meditation session.
Turning around, you saw your android, Alexander, standing by the door to the balcony. He was an old KS300 android of yours. Well, he wasn’t old looks-wise, no more than late 20s at the most. But, he was an early prototype that was made for public use despite ending up scrapping the idea and keeping the one android for yourself. His bright, curly red hair made his blue eyes pop against his pale, freckled skin. Alexander was who any high school girl’s dream crush would be. You were proud of what you created but chose to treat him like any other human being.
You gave the android a soft smile, graciously nodding your head at him. “Thank you, Alex.” You made your way back inside, taking a sip of your alcohol. “Would you care to join me?” Sitting down on the couch, you gestured to the spot next to you with your free hand.
Alexander took a couple steps towards you before you stopped him with your hand in the air. “Alex, do you really want to join me or do you feel like you’re being forced?”
The LED on the side of his head turned yellow as he processed the question you were asking him. “I would like to join you. It would feel rude of me to decline an offer of relaxation.”
Sighing, you nodded your head as he took a seat beside you. “You don’t have to talk so formal all the time, ya know? We’ve known each other long enough.” You nudged him, careful not to spill the drink in your hand. Wouldn’t want anything stained.
Alex stared straight forward at the television screen across the room, turning the channels on his own. “I’ll be sure to remember that, (Y/N).”
Was he being sarcastic? You couldn’t tell at all with this guy.
Finally, the android found the news channel, KNC. You leaned forward in your spot, bringing all your attention to the information being talked about. The words on the bottom read, ‘SPECIAL PROFILE ON CYBERLIFE’ as a blonde woman rambled on about the new invention, the android. Your grip on the glass cup tightened, narrowing your eyes at the words being said to the world.
Elijah Kamski, the current CEO of CyberLife and your ex, has successfully found a way to create life through technology.
All by himself.
Shooting out of your seat, you rushed over to the T.V., standing within mere inches from it. You ignored the android behind you who was talking about how being close to the screen could ruin your eyesight.
“Elijah Kamski, could you please tell us where we are?” The interviewer asked, the camera zooming in on the man standing there.
Elijah looked the same as the day you left him. His brunette hair was pulled back in a ponytail, his ice blue eyes hidden behind eyeglasses. The stubble on his face was cleanly cut, meaning he went to the barber recently. You always had to remind him to get a trim when he worked long nights, experimenting with technology. The man would just give you a smile, kissing you on your cheek before agreeing to get one the next day.
“Certainly, and welcome…” Elijah greeted, his deep voice prominent over television.
His voice was something that attracted you at the time. He would practically have you swooning when he whispered sweet nothings in your ear.
Now, his voice just irked you.
“We’re currently in CyberLife’s production center in Detroit, where are all models are designed and manufactured.” He continued, the camera switching angles as he talked. “More than 10,000 androids come off the production line every day.”
You crossed your arms as you raised an eyebrow at the screen. “Mhm, overcompensating for something, are we?” You hissed, taking a sip of your wine as Alex still sat in his spot on the couch behind you.
“Fascinating!” The woman replied, a grin most likely on her face from behind the camera.
You made a sound of disgust. “Oh, yes. I’m sure it must be fascinating.”
Alex tilted his head at your current attitude. “(Y/N), I’m sensing signs of hostility and jealousy.”
Glaring over at the android, you rolled your eyes, choosing not to engage in the conversation but rather turning back to the ‘Detroit exclusive’.
“Could you tell us what your goal was when you founded CyberLife?”
That was the word. The word that crushed your insides.
‘You.’
The worst part about it was that Elijah looked down to the floor, a small smile on his bearded face. A slight pause was present before he continued the conversation as if you didn’t exist. As if you didn’t help him create CyberLife.
You clenched your jaw, eyes staring daggers at the screen. How dare he? How dare he take credit for the work you helped him with? You spent hours up at night with him, drawing blueprints of the models you would create together. Side-by-side. A team.
Now, he acted as if you were never there to begin with.
Screaming, you took the glass in your hand and threw it at the television, shattering it everywhere. The screen cracked upon impact, red liquid trickling down and getting onto the carpet. So much for not wanting to stain anything. Breathing heavily, you watched as Alex moved to clean up the mess but you stopped him for the second time that night.
“I-I’ll do it.” You whispered, rubbing the side of your tired face with your palm. “I made the mess anyway.”
But, you didn’t move. You just stood there, standing over the shattered glass by your bare feet. Alex hesitantly walked over to you, stepping on the glass without a care as his LED turned red. He couldn’t feel physical pain. Blue thirium dripped onto the floor, staining it as well but you were too lost to notice. “Come on, let’s get you to bed.” The android muttered, scooping you up bridal-style before carrying you to your room.
You were in a daze as you felt yourself being lifted up. “He’s such an ass.” You hissed under your breath, your eyes off in another world. Slowly, you were lowered in the soft bed in your bedroom. “Taking all the fucking credit, acting like he’s some god.” You glared at the ceiling as Alex pulled the blankets over you. “He never loved me.”
Alex glanced up at your broken expression before tucking you in like a child. “I’m sure that isn’t the case, (Y/N). And, I have a feeling that you know it isn’t true either.” He whispered, raising an eyebrow at your troubled face.
“He didn’t.” You whined, stubbornly.
Alex nodded his head, moving to leave the room. “Okay, maybe he didn’t. But, shall I bring out all your journals where you had written down everything about him when he did?” The android smirked when he saw your mouth fell open in shock. “Goodnight, (Y/N).”
You watched as he shut the door to your room behind him. The moon outside your window dimly lit the environment you were in. Your mind couldn’t get itself off of Elijah and his words on T.V. He had broadcasted to the whole word saying that he did it all by himself. Shaking your head, your turned on your side, moving your arm underneath your pillow to prop it up a bit. You decided it was best to combat your mind with an attempt at sleep. Closing your eyes, you allowed your body to relax despite wanting to move and pace around the house in anger.
You never wanted to see Elijah Kamski ever again.
Years Later
You couldn’t believe what you were doing right now. Androids have turned against their creators and have become ‘deviant’. More and more had appeared on the news, murdering their owners because of traumatic experiences. You worried about Alexander sometimes, constantly telling him that you’d accept his deviancy without a second thought. He’d just wave his hand, telling you that he had been aware of who and what he was for some time now.
“I don’t recall you ever doing something that I would have to murder you for though.” He’d joke, scaring you even more.
For years, you had to deal with the constant praise of Elijah and his ability to create androids all by himself despite having left CyberLife years before. You’d see how girls would gather around a phone, staring at new videos and images of your ex, fawning over him and screaming about how he could do all this.
But, lately as deviancy has become more and more prominent in the media, less was heard of Elijah. More people started to question his ability of creating inventions because they were just going to ‘fail’. You didn’t like that word. Fail. The androids weren’t failing, they were becoming self-aware. They were realizing how they were being treated. They were rebelling. Of course, the public didn’t like that at all and quickly tried to find ways to stop it. The news would constantly ask the question,
“Where was Elijah Kamski?”
So, you packed yourself into your car with Alex by your side and looked for him. The android next to you quickly found where Elijah was staying and you were on your way. Actually, it took you some convincing from Alex at first considering you had no desire to visit your ex at all. He was interested in getting answers from Elijah just as much as the public was. Eventually, you got over your stubbornness and decided to be flexible for Alex. It took a while to get there but soon you saw the house from a distance.
“Yep, definitely overcompensating for something.” You muttered as you pulled up in front of the large home, briefly turning on the windshield wipers to wipe away the falling snow.
The ginger android turned and gave a warning look. “Be polite.” He told you, opening his car door to get out.
You glared at his back, scoffing to yourself. “Be polite, my ass.” You hissed under your breath so he couldn’t hear.
You both approached the door before Alex reached over to ring the doorbell. There was a long silence before you tightened the coat around you, turning to leave. “Whelp! No one’s home. I guess we have to-”
The door suddenly unlocked and opened, revealing the first ever successfully made android. Her blue dress clung to her body, dark eye makeup accented her features as a blonde ponytail was resting on her shoulder.
“Chloe…” You breathed out, shocked to find her here.
At the mention of her name, she turned to look at you and her eyes widened just a smidge. “(Y/N),” She began, believing her systems were tricking her. “It’s a pleasure to see you again after all these years.” Her head turned towards the android next to you, “And Alexander, it’s good to see you as well.” A gentle smile rested on her face.
Alex nodded in greeting, noticing your lack of response. “Hello, Chloe. We wanted to meet with Elijah.” He said, his arms resting behind his back curtly.
Chloe nodded, opening the door wider for you. “Please, come in.” She offered, gesturing for you to come inside.
Alex immediately walked inside to avoid the cold while you hesitated for a moment. Was it too late to run? Chloe waited patiently for you to come in, still holding the door for you. Sighing, you walked in, instantly feeling the warmth of the home hit your body. You watched as Chloe disappeared into another room to tell Elijah someone was here for him.
The front room was huge with different sculptures placed around the room and two red armchairs for people to rest in. The thing that caught your eye was gigantic portrait of Elijah on the wall. A person would’ve been blind if they didn’t notice it. You crossed your arms, glaring at the image that was staring back at you.
“Careful.” Alex said from beside you. “If you stare at the picture any longer, you just might scare it away.”
You were about to make a sarcastic remark back but Chloe returned before you could. “Elijah will see you now.” She said, standing by the door to the last place you wanted to be right now.
Gulping, you followed Alex into the room, butterflies flying around in your stomach. You entered an area with a giant red pool with a beautiful view of the outside. You saw Elijah casually floating on his back in the middle of the pool, his eyes closed. He didn’t seem aware of your presence at the moment. Other models of Chloe sat on the edge of the pool with their feet dipping in the water, chatting amongst each other.
“So, you got awfully lonely at nights, huh?” You scowled, not holding back one bit.
Alex stared at you in stunned silence as Elijah snapped his head up to look at the source of the voice. His breath hitched at the sight of you standing there, anger practically radiating off of you. Cold blue eyes moved to give a once-over to the android standing next to you who’s mouth was still ajar. “I see you got lonely as well.” Elijah sneered back, swimming closer to where you were. “Hello, Alex. It’s been a while.”
Alex hesitated before replying to one of his creators. “Hello, Mr. Kamski.”
You moved your head to look around the room. “Nice place you have here.” You complimented before turning back to the man. “Overcompensating for something?”
Oh, how you’ve been dying to say that to his face for years now.
Elijah merely smirked at your comment, his head leaning to the side. His eyes scanned you up and down making you tighten the coat around your body. “You didn’t seem to think that way when we were together.”
He moved to climb out of the pool, water dripping down his body. Your eyes couldn’t help but fall south before looking away, crossing your arms with a disgusted look again. Okay, maybe he didn’t need to compensate for something. You watched as he tied his hair up, showing his shaven sides and pierced ear. “Really? A shaved man bun?” You asked, giving him a look. “Your long hair was much better.”
Elijah hummed in reply. “Ah, yes, I do remember you always wanting to play with it.” He turned to stare at you, eyebrow raised. “And, wanting to pull on it when we-” You cleared your throat loudly causing him to pause mid-sentence. His hands went up in the air in mock surrender as he chuckled dryly. “Is there something you wanted or did you come here just to insult me?”
You glanced at Alex who was looking between you and Elijah, watching the whole scene play before him with mild amusement. “Why?” You whispered, turning back to look at your ex who knitted his eyebrows in confusion.
“Why what?” He asked, crossing his large arms and shifting his weight from one leg to the other.
“Don’t give me that.” You warned. “Why did you take all the fucking credit?” You said, raising your voice in built-up anger.
Elijah’s face became a blank one as he heard what you said. Licking his lips, he moved to look out the large window. “I assumed you wanted nothing to do with CyberLife anymore.”
You physically took a step back at what he said, not believing a single word. “Excuse me? All those hours I put in to bringing shit to life and you would think I would just throw it all away?” Your hands clenched into fists at your sides. “What kind of idiot do you think I am?” You said through your teeth.
Elijah suddenly swung around to stare at you dead in the eyes. “An idiot that left me!” He shouted, echoing across the home and catching the attention of the chatting Chloes. His eyes widened at his own outburst before clearing his throat, composing himself.
Your mouth hung open with your heart racing. “You’re the one who left me!” You screamed, roughly shoving his shoulder. “You thought I wanted to end it with you?” Your eyes narrowed at the man before you. “You constantly pushed me to the side every single day! Why would I stay with someone who couldn’t prioritize his girlfriend over a fucking android!” You quickly glanced over at Alex who was still standing there awkwardly. “No offense.”
The android shook his head, pursing his lips. “None taken.”
“I thought you enjoyed working on creating CyberLife with me.” Elijah whispered, scoffing at you.
“I did!” You threw your hands up in the air in exasperation before jabbing your finger into his chest. “But, you couldn’t tell the difference between your love life and your work life.”
The two of you stared at each other, too stubborn to admit defeat. You’d both be dead by now if looks could kill.
“Didn’t you love me?” You asked, your voice so quiet Elijah almost didn’t hear it.
His eyes widened immediately, “Of course, I did!” There was a pause. “Don’t you love me?”
Your gaze finally broke his, falling to the ground. “I-I don’t-”
Before you could finish, two wet hands made their way to the sides of your face, pulling you into a rough kiss. You stood there shocked, eyes wide, not fully processing what happened. Elijah’s mouth moved against yours, desperately trying to gain a reaction from you. Your hands finally moved up to his bare chest before harshly pushing him away.
“You’re such a fucking asshole!” You screamed, your breathing heavy from lack of air. “You think that if you just kiss me, everything will be okay again?”
Elijah looked away, knowing deep down he did want everything to be okay again.
You scoffed, seeing the look he was giving you. “You- I’m leaving. Alex, let’s go.”
The android perked up at his name and nodded curtly, giving one last glance at Elijah before following after you. Before you left the room, you turned to the man one last time. “Never contact me again.” And then, you left.
Elijah wished he could run after you but he knew it would be useless and would only push you away more. Sighing, he gazed out the window again as Chloe approached him with a drink in hand. “Are you not worried, Elijah? Your heart rate is very calm despite the events that just occurred.”
The man looked at the girl beside him, giving her a gentle smile, graciously taking the drink from her. Taking a sip of his drink, he ran a thumb over the lips that touched yours just minutes before.
