You and the bull both went your separate ways into the Totomonstro as, you went back to your seat to watch the bull fight his way through a bunch of matadors, beasts, and the like. Once you finished watching a couple fights, you decided you wanted to grab a bite to eat at one of Altissias outdoor restaurants. You decided to order some veggie soup with a slice of buttermilk bread on the side.
You were eating your soup slowly as you looked up and saw someone was joining you at the table you were currently sitting at. “Hello! What brings you here to this restaurant?” You wiped your lips with a napkin before you responded back to him.
“Oh um, just thought I should get a bite to eat before I take the shortcut back to the hotel which is past the barn.” The stranger nods as he takes a bite of the bread in front of him. “Really? A short cut through the barn you say? Tell me more.” The stranger says with a smile.
You quickly, but carefully finished your bowl of soup and bread and you paid the waiter as you stood up and gathered your things. “Well, it was nice meeting you mister..?” The man just nodded with the tilt of his hat and smirked. “You’ll find out in due time my dear, have a safe trip back to the hotel~” He told you as he walked away back towards the building where the other matadors meet.
‘Whoa, that was weird. Why did I get such a strange vibe from that guy?’ You thought to yourself as, you made your way through the farm on the way to the hotel.
You looked around for the bull but, he was no where to be seen. “Guess he hasn’t made it back here yet. Well, I’m sure he won’t mind if I take a little peak at the inside of his barn.” You thought to yourself as, you stepped into the barn, feeling the sandy, hay ridden floor beneath your feet as you looked around, amazed by the size of the inside of the structure.
You looked around the floor, seeing all the hay bales scattered around till a glint of something caught your eye. “Hmm? What is that? Is that a bottle? How’d that get in here?“
You asked yourself aloud as you walked towards it and picked the bottle up to examine it better and, your eyes went wide as your read what alcohol it was. "Jack Daniels’ beer?! What’s a bull doing with a drink like this?"
You stood up to see if there were actually any full bottles of beer in the barn when you heard a loud snort behind you, followed by a hoof stomp.
You then froze, not moving a muscle staying completely silent. ‘Didn’t expect him to return so soon..’
"Well, the fight I was in was quick and easy. Aren’t you supposed to be heading back to your hotel by now?” Your hair stood on end, as you slowly turned around to face the bull, an angry face across his features.
“W-wait a second..you can talk??” The bull sighed and looked at you, with the angry expression on his face still. “Huh, took you a minute didn’t it sweetheart? And yes, I can talk. This isn’t a dream and no, you don’t have to pinch yourself; this is really happening right now.”
You were still dumbfounded and wondering how you were able to understand him. “Well, how can I hear you exactly? You’re not moving your mouth..” It was hard to tell but, you swore you just saw the bull smirk.
“We’re pretty much communicating with our minds actually, sounds confusing I know but; it is what it is.” The bull responded with a nod as his anger went down an octive a bit. You nodded as you slowly stood up, still holding one of the empty beer bottles in your hand as you looked into his eyes, while the bull looked into yours.
“Now, I want to ask you a question since, you can understand me and everything. Why does a bull have beer bottles hidden behind these bales of hay? I didn’t think animals could drink, only humans could.” You asked him with a look of pure confusion and concern.
“It’s none of your business if a bull like me can drink or not. But, if you really want to know why they’re here in the barn in the first place, allow me to show you.”
The bull looked at the sun as, it disappears behind the arena as, he goes down on his knees and, his form starts getting smaller, his hoofs are replaced by human hands and his back legs change into strong human legs, his hair goes a little past his shoulders and, his tail disappears into his body. He then stands up straight as the moonlight shows off his finished form, brandishing the eagle tattoo that wraps around his body.
Your mouth went wide as you quickly backed up into the pile of hay behind you as you started pointing at his new form.
“Y-you’re the guy I saw standing in the barn yesterday that yelled at me when I wanted to tend to your wound…how is that even possible?!”
He sighs as he places a hand on his forehead, closing his eyes. “First off, it’s rude to point at people. Second, I’ve always been like this. I’ve always been a werebull, ever since I was a teenager. It’s not a big deal.” He told you as he sighed deeply. “My whole family has been this way for as long as I can remember.” You nodded at his answer as you stood up, brushing the sand/dirt off your pants. “Well, since we got that confusion out of the way. I haven’t properly introduced myself. I’m [y/n]. What’s yours?"
You asked him as you waited for him to tell you his, as you smiled sweetly at him. His cheeks had a rosy tint to them when you did that gesture towards him, he started scratching the back of his head before he started telling you his name. "Gladiolus Amicitia but, you can just call me Gladio. Its a pleasure to make your acquaintance [y/n]. Sorry for how I acted towards you when we first met.”
You looked at the look of sadness he had on his face as you slowly, but carefully reached up and touched the left side of his face, you jumped a little inside as your felt him move into your touch, his cheeks getting even redder.
“Hey Gladio, are you alright? What’s wrong?” You asked him with a tilt of your head, as you were starting to get concerned.
He came back to his senses, grabbing your wrist gently as he took it off his face. “What? Yeah, I’m fine, thanks.”
He looked away from you again as, you saw a blush come across his cheeks. You giggled a little bit as you put your hand close to your mouth and yawned.
“Man, I didn’t realize it was this late. I should get going.”
You told him as you took a step but, you started to fall forward but Gladio reacted quickly and caught you just before you hit the ground, carrying you bridal style.
You blushed beet red as you tried getting him to put you down onto the ground but, he didn’t place you back down but, just placed you onto the bales of hay lined up against the wall of the barn gently. You blushed as, you saw him snuggle up next to you; pulling the sheet over the both of you.
“Sorry, I didn’t want to see you get hurt. Plus, that was my way of apologizing for not letting you look at my wounds when we first met. So, I hope your okay with this.”
You nodded as, you placed a hand onto his chest as you smiled at him again.
“No, it’s okay. Thank you, Gladio. You’re really sweet.” You then lifted your head and, placed a quick kiss onto his cheek before you faced to the right side of the makeshift hay bed and went straight to sleep.
Gladio huffed a little at your way of showing that you were starting to like him. He then leaned over and kissed your temple as, he started to doze off as well.
Tonight, he actually felt like he was no longer alone with you by his side.
