I’ve had you here for months, anon. You deserve something for your troubles; I’m super sorry this took so long, I am just really trying to work on my own projects.
His ideal lover is someone gentle and intelligent, headstrong without being outspoken, and sympathetic.
Nyx likes them tall; man or woman, he likes a dominating frame to counter a demure temperament.
He’s not one to say any one person is finer or less than another when it comes to looks, but he does prefer blonds and he loves freckles.
He doesn’t often fret over personality because he never thinks he’ll ever have the time for something real and true, but if he had to put words to it, he’d want someone who doesn’t know war like he does – an escape from the bloodshed and the hurt, who can talk about silly, frivolous things like bad weather or ‘that jerk at the supermarket.’
More importantly, he values his freedom as much as he values a homestead; if he’s forced to stay, he will flee – if he has the option to remain or leave, he will stay.
Pre-Relationship
He pines, but he’s no schoolgirl, he’s always been very upfront and flirtatious – and very forward with what he wants. However, he’s really interested in opinion, and will spend a lot of time thinking about conversations he’s had with a possible love interest before taking the plunge. He likes to be sure.
He’ll talk about them all the time to Crowe, only because she knows all
the details and in town gossip, and isn’t afraid to judge on the spot.
He values her opinion.
Nyx openly stares, too; he kind of knows he’s a looker and that others won’t really mind if they have a number like him staring them up and down.
He’s very ‘look, don’t touch,’ though, and he doesn’t waste anyone’s time, especially his own, when it comes to relationships. He enjoys playing the field, too, even if he happens to have his eye on someone.
Post-Relationship
Nyx dwells a lot, let’s face it, but the reality is – he puts on a brave face and just moves on. The fact of the matter is that no pain will ever be as agonizing as what he felt losing his mother and Selena; it would just be another bump in the road.
This is not saying that he’s heartless. He goes through the consequences of love and loss just like everyone else, but the heart hardens over time, and he’s got a job to do. Priorities are a bit different for men like him.
He doesn’t try to keep friendly, either, because that’s igniting a light of hope that neither party really needs; he’d rather just live and keep the happy memory with him.
Unrequited Love
Nyx cannot stand never knowing. He needs a yes or no answer, which is why there are a lot of times in which his confessions end in a little bit of heartbreak, but this trait of his also saves him a lot of sadness, too. It’s important to have clarity, and the moment he gets the inkling, he needs the answer – cuts away a lot of that ‘should I say anything?’ feeling.
However, there are times when he doesn’t get to speak up – people move away, they move on, or they become a casualty of war; he hates the feeling of being completely cut off before he says anything, but it’s better for him, all the same. There are no second chances.
He doesn’t hurt over unrequited love. This seems cold, but in actually, it is refreshing to Nyx when a ‘could of been’ doesn’t exactly work out. Not everybody he falls for will love him back and it’s a dose of reality he needs to keep sane.
That isn’t to say he won’t complain about it to Libertus for a day or two; he can be reminded that he’s human, and that bad things happen and only better is to come, maybe.
