I wrote this at work when I wrote this and it’s another short one (tomorrow’s will be longer I promise) and I’m very tired this morning but it’s fine 🙂

Charles was bouncing up and down on his heels with excitement. His favorite author of all time was in town and they were doing a book signing. Not only was the author a brilliant writer, but they were also a mutant. Charles couldn’t wait to to meet them, tell them how much their work inspired him.

“Why are we here again?” Erik mumbled to him as he looked around the library they were in, standing in line behind at least fifty other people, fifty more standing behind them.

“To meet someone famous!” Charles enthused, taking Erik’s hand in his and giving it an enthusiastic squeeze. “This is gonna be so much fun! I wonder if they’ll like me, or if they’ll listen to my thesis.”

“Do they have time to listen to your thesis?”

Charles shrugged. “Maybe, I don’t see why they wouldn’t.” Erik gave a nod of acknowledgement, moving his arm up to wrap around his shoulder and press a kiss to his head.

“Well I’m sure whoever they are, they’ll love you just as much as I do,” Charles turned to look at Erik then, smiling at him warmly before leaning in to press a sweet kiss to his lips.

“And I’ll love them as much as I love you,” Charles teased, receiving a playful eye roll from Erik. “Don’t worry darling, you don’t have any competition, yet,” he giggled.

Erik cocked an eyebrow. “Yet? You may have competition if I like them as much as you do.”

“Please Erik, I’m irreplaceable, and so are you.” He smiled sweetly at him, receiving another kiss since Erik knew Charles was right.
