When they were boys…

You fell on your knees, spent under the intense summer rays of the desert heat. Libertus had already collapsed a few feet away from you, on his back, his pudgy stomach rising and falling with his deep, desperate breaths. You could still hear rapid footsteps running forward towards the quickly disappearing slick black car in the distance.

Sitting back up, you spotted Nyx’s brown t-shirt and black-shorts clad self and called out to him, voice cracking from exhaustion.

“Nyx! Get back here, your mom’s gonna kill us!”
